Home sauna vs membership: the math
Break-even months = sauna cost ÷ (monthly membership − monthly electricity). Example with round illustrative numbers: a $6,000 sauna vs a $120/month membership and roughly $25/month of power gives about 63 months (5.3 years). Using it 4 times a week, that's around $7 a session in year one and falling after. Put in your own quotes; power use depends on heater size, rates and how often you use it.
| Sauna price | Membership $/mo | Break-even (with ~$25/mo power) |
|---|---|---|
| $4,000 | $100 | 53 months |
| $6,000 | $120 | 63 months |
| $8,000 | $150 | 64 months |
| $12,000 | $200 | 69 months |

Not medical advice. Heat and cold exposure aren't safe for everyone (heart conditions, pregnancy, blood-pressure medication, alcohol). Talk to your doctor first. Check any model against current CPSC recalls; on Sept 17, 2026 Sauna360 recalled about 41,580 infrared and hybrid units (Finnleo, Tylö, Helo, Amerec, Radiant Health).
